Please Read: Fuel Levy

The current conflict in the Middle East has resulted in a sharp increase in the price of fuel. To offset these unexpected costs, an additional temporary fuel levy of $2 per passenger will be applied to any new bookings for cruises operating from 1 April 2026 to 31 December 2026 (inclusive).

Given current volatility, this levy will be reviewed every two weeks and adjusted as required to reflect actual cost movements. Our intention is to keep this charge as low as possible and only in place while fuel prices remain at elevated levels. Once prices return to more typical levels, this incremental fuel levy will be removed. Prices mentioned on this page are inclusive of the temporary fuel levy.

Sydney’s Best Whale Watching Cruise

Every year between May and November, thousands of humpback whales migrate past Sydney’s coastline, creating one of Australia’s most spectacular wildlife experiences.

Our 2-hour Express Whale Watching Cruise departs from Circular Quay and is designed for guests who want maximum whale watching time in a shorter itinerary. Aboard our purpose-built whale watching vessels, you’ll head beyond Sydney Heads in search of breaching humpback whales, tail slaps and unforgettable wildlife encounters.

Perfect for visitors, families and locals alike, the Express Cruise combines world-famous Sydney Harbour views with an exciting ocean adventure.

Why Choose Our Express Whale Watching Cruise

Our Express Cruise is designed for guests who want an unforgettable whale watching experience without committing to a longer tour. Departing from Circular Quay places us closer to Sydney Heads, allowing us to spend less time travelling and more time searching for humpback whales offshore.

Aboard Ocean Dreaming II and Fantasea Escapade, you’ll enjoy spacious viewing decks, climate-controlled indoor cabins and expert commentary from our experienced crew. With a 99% whale sighting success rate and our Whale Guarantee, you can book with confidence knowing you’ll cruise again free if no whales are successfully sighted.

Whether you’re visiting Sydney for a few days or looking for a memorable local adventure, our 2-hour itinerary delivers maximum whale watching value in minimal time.

Whale Watching Season in Sydney

Between May and November, humpback whales migrate along Australia’s east coast, passing directly offshore from Sydney.

During the northern migration, whales travel towards warmer breeding grounds before returning south later in the season. From June to August, guests often witness active whale behaviour including breaching, tail slapping and pectoral fin waving. From September to November, mothers and calves can frequently be spotted making their journey south.

Sydney’s location provides exceptional whale watching opportunities, with thousands of humpback whales passing the coastline every season.
